Horizons IDC

The Horizons Exchange Traded Funds Investment Decision Centre (RJC-126) builds on the success of the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor at McMaster’s main campus. The Horizons IDC provides students hands-on exposure to state-of-the art portfolio management decision-making tools with technology that mirrors that in a portfolio manager’s environment.

Supported by information feeds from Morningstar’s Canadian Portfolio Management System (CPMS) and by Canada Newswire (CNW), students can use Investment Technology Group’s (ITG) Triton® technology providing direct, broker-neutral access to global markets and intuitive tools that help traders improve decision making, automated execution strategies, effective order management, and performance analysis.

A comprehensive global trading system for equities and derivatives and Named Best Trading System (Asian Investor Service Provider Awards 2009), Triton empowers managers to determine the right strategy and quickly locate liquidity—on a trade-by-trade or list basis. Bloomberg access is available at all the workstations in the Horizons IDC.

Regular Horizons IDC events will be announced by the MBA Finance Association and by DeGroote’s new Portfolio Manager in Residence, Greg Melchior.

As with the Gould Trading Floor, the Horizons Exchange Traded Funds Investment Decision Centre will serve as a resource and training centre for the business community and the general public, in addition to the DeGroote School of Business’ MBA and executive education students.
